16 AND 17 YEARS-OLDS IN UTAH JUSTICE COURTS
Utah Justice Courts have jurisdiction over the following types of criminal cases under the Utah criminal code. Selected 16-17-year-olds and adults over 18 years old for Infractions, Class C and Class B Misdemeanors.
(A). Poaching/Hunting/Fishing/DNR Crimes. Title 23A, Wildlife Resources Act.
(B). Registration, Titling, Places. Title 41, Chapter 1a, Motor Vehicle Act.
(C). The Utah Traffic Code. Title 41, Chapter 6a, Traffic Code, except Title 41, Chapter 6a, Part 5, Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving. Not including DUIs and reckless driving, these matter are filed in a Utah Juvenile Court.
(D). No Insurance Tickets. Title 41, Chapter 12a, Financial Responsibility of Motor Vehicle Owners and Operators Act.
(E). ATVs, Off-Road Vehicles Citations. Title 41, Chapter 22, Off-highway Vehicles.
(F). Boating Crimes and Infractions. Title 73, Chapter 18, State Boating Act, except Section 73-18-12.
(G). Boating and Littering. Title 73, Chapter 18a, Boating – Litter and Pollution Control.
(H). Titling, Boats and Watercraft. Title 73, Chapter 18b, Water Safety.
(I). More Boats and Titling Regulations. Title 73, Chapter 18c, Financial Responsibility of Motorboat Owners and Operators Act.
(J). Driving license offenses. Class C misdemeanor and infraction violations of Title 53, Chapter 3, Part 2, Driver Licensing Act; and
